Wet glazing is a proven method of reinforcing safety and security window film. By applying a structural sealant around the edges of the glass, the film bonds directly to the window frame. This process reduces weak points, strengthens the entire glass system, and helps prevent the film from peeling away during impact or forced entry. At Tint National, our professional installation team uses only high quality adhesives and industry best practices to ensure your windows are protected for the long term.

Wet Glazing for Safer Schools & Campuses

Schools face unique safety challenges, and glass is often one of the most vulnerable points in a building. Wet glazing provides an extra layer of protection by securing safety film to the window frame with a strong structural sealant. This process helps prevent glass from shattering during forced entry, storms, or accidents—keeping students, teachers, and staff safer. Many districts are choosing wet glazing as part of their security upgrades to meet modern safety standards and create a more secure learning environment.

Extra protection against intruders and break-ins

Improved resistance to storms, blasts, and accidental impact

A longer-lasting finish compared to film alone

A professional, seamless appearance around your windows

Reinforced edges for maximum glass strength

Why Wet Glazing Matters

  1. Precision Surface Preparation

    • We start by applying a 1" strip of 3M™ Scotch™ Safe Release™ White Masking Tape to the film surface, positioned 3/8" from the edge of the film.

    • Simultaneously, a 1" strip of 3M Safe Release Blue Masking Tape is applied to the window frame, 3/8" from the gasket edge. This careful preparation creates a consistent channel for the sealant, ensuring a clean and uniform application.

  2. Expert Sealant Application

    • Our team uses a triangular bead of IPA Impact Protection Adhesive, applying it with precision to achieve proper penetration and avoid air gaps.

    • Starting from a corner, the bead is pushed out about 6 inches, ensuring a seamless flow before turning the application gun toward the next corner.

  3. Flawless Finishing

    • To achieve a professional appearance, we smooth the sealant bead using the appropriate tools. Tooling is done in a continuous stroke immediately after application, leaving no room for imperfections.

  4. Adherence to Industry Standards

    • We strictly follow all 3M product guidelines and installation instructions, ensuring a safe and durable installation.
